GET ON THE BALL!
One of our members, Ruth, wrote in and asked about using the Stability Ball. This is sometimes called "Resist-a-Ball" at the gym, because Mike and Stephanie Morris created a stability ball exercise program and certification for aerobics instructors with that name. See below!
Question from Ruth --
I went to my chiropractor this afternoon, he suggested I get one of the exercise balls, said it would be " more gentle" to my joints. I believe my daughter-in-law has one and I will use hers for a few days to see if I want to purchase my own.
Also, the chiro showed me a couple of weight lifting tips, had me to put my hand on his shoulder and arm while he did it correctly then incorrectly.
Anita's Answer --
Yes, Ruth, you should try the Ball. I have been certified in Resist-a-Ball since 1998, in fact, that was one of my first certifications when I started teaching Aerobics. I used to have a one-hour Ball class on Tuesday nights at Bally in Orlando. Here is some info for you: BALL EXERCISES:
(RUTH, ABOUT 3 OF THOSE ON THAT LIST WILL BE TOO HARD FOR YOU, BUT JUST DO THE ONES YOU CAN DO)
Click on BODY BALL title and it will take you to the whole page.
There are also stability ball books and videos, see the bottom of that page for other Ball products.
